Apparently manufacturers had to follow the EU Directive 2019/904, whose Article 6 gives a more detailed insight : caps and lids made out of plastic may be placed on the market only if the caps and lids remain attached to the containers during the products’ intended use stage.
Great example of a moronic patch, instead of addressing a real problem by looking at sources we’re barely fixing one of its issues… Another example of putting the guilt and the patch on the consumer’s shoulders, making him realize how bad he is every time he spills juice on his dumb polyester shirt…
